Meet Kate Robertson your Kiltmaker and Creator
Living in the rural setting of the Scottish Borders, I am very lucky to have both independent weavers and woollen mills so close to home which produce a lot of the quality tartan and tweed cloth available today. Since starting Scottish Ties, I have expanded my range to also include and incorporate some beautiful Liberty London print designs - the fabrics compliment each other so well!

All of the beautiful accessories on my website are carefully handmade by me in my workroom at home in the Scottish Borders, ensuring the highest quality in each piece.
If you have any questions, or you would like to discuss a custom order for your wedding or special occasion, please feel free to get in touch and I can work with you to create the look you would like!
With best wishes,
Kate x

In 2008, I visited the beautiful island of Rum, one of the Small Isles of the Inner Hebrides. The island has remained a very special place for me, and it was the view from the CalMac ferry as we approached the island which became the inspiration for the Robertson Kiltmakers and Scottish Ties logo.

Having moved around a lot in my childhood, after graduating from university in 2010 I settled in Scotland and it truly feels like home.
My heart is captivated, I am tied to Scotland - by its landscapes, history, clothing and fabrics! I love how these all interrelate, and in particular, the way in which Scottish tweeds and tartans effortlessly capture and depict the beautiful depth and variety of colours in the Scottish landscape.
Sewing and fabric are my passion. Over the years I have made adult and baby clothes, curtains and home accessories, quilts, and clothing accessories.
A few years ago I bought some Harris Tweed® without knowing exactly what I planned to make with it - as is often the way for sewers with a healthy fabric stash! I knew that I wanted to wear the fabric, it is so beautiful that it had to be seen...I made my first clothing accessory, and haven't stopped! I began selling some of my handmade accessories online and as the orders for gifts, weddings and special occasions grew, Scottish Ties was born!
